What is DroidDeck?

DroidDeck is an Android app that gives you the SteamOS experience on Android.

That means, your Steam games (some, not all) working on Android.

Imagine Steam Big Picture mode, on Android – that’s DroidDeck.

Well, it’s the easiest way to explain it.

Installing DroidDeck

Head to the DroidDeck Github and then Releases on the right.

Download the apk from the latest version – there’s usually a few apk’s, generally the one that’s just DroidDeck-###.apk is fine.

Open the apk and install the app, then open the app.

Allow permission access for files.

Setup DroidDeck

Go ahead and click the big blue Play Steam button.

You now need to give DroidDeck proper permissions for background processes, so click Allow notifications and then allow All DroidDeck notifications.

Back in DroidDeck, click Fix it for me.

Scroll down to Wireless debugging and enable it.

Click the checkbox for Always allow on this network and then Allow.

Click Wireless debugging to get into the sub-menu.

Click Pair device with pairing code and then you should get a popup from DroidDeck to write that code in while on this screen.

Do so.

Click the notification to get back to DroidDeck.

Click Play Steam.

It should start downloading everything you need for Steam.

Once it’s done, you should be greeted by a sign in screen for Steam, so sign in.

Configuring DroidDeck

Once you’ve signed in, you’ll be right in Steam Big Picture mode.

If your device has a back button, you will get access to the DroidDeck menu.

There’s useful things here – the second tab has Performance HUD to see your performance in-game, or you can also turn on Frame generation.

If you click the three dots top right, that opens the Steam Quick Settings menu.

When you’re done with DroidDeck, you can use the back button to access the DroidDeck menu and the Stop button top right to Stop.

Otherwise, not much to do here – feel free to install a game and start playing.

I think the beauty of DroidDeck is the ease of compatibility and use that you don’t need to touch settings to enjoy your games.
